Guiana Shield notes for the Zygoptera

Acanthagrion luteum Rácenis, 1958 is a synonym of Acanthagrion ascendens Calvert, 1909 see

Acantallagma luteum has recently discovered in French Guyana by Jean-François de la Salle.

Argia extranea according to Belle (2002) not recorded after Selys (1865). For its range see Tsuda (2000): unlikely to occur in Suriname, so deleted form previous lists (Dennis Paulson agrees).

Argia thespis. Dennis Paulson wrote me (23 Jan 2001) he could not find the appropriate reference for his listing of the species for Suriname and suggested to exclude the species from the Suriname list. 

Aeolagrion flammeum is now Phoenicagrion flammeum (Selys, 1876)

Chalcopteryx seabrai not in Belle (2002) but present in collection.

Hetaerina dominula Hagen in Selys, 1853  is a synonym of Hetaerina caja (Drury, 1773) see

Hetaerina cruentata: Garrison (1990) suspected the three males listed by Selys (1859) were mislabeled (Belle, 2002) and Dennis Paulson agrees. But it is still on Paulsons 2009 list: H. cruentata - CA, CO, VE, SU, BR.

Hetaerina majuscula: in Belle (2002) but not present in collection, a Central American species.

Homeoura chelifera has been mentioned for Guyana by von Ellenrieder (2008) for the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo region.

Homeoura nepos from la Guyane department, French Guiana (Machet, 1989) need to be confirmed by examination of specimens, since they could as well correspond to H. obrieni suggests von Ellenrieder (2008). This lattre species is known from to occur in eastern Venezuela and northern Brasil.

Inpabasis eliasi Santos, 1961 is a synonym of  Inpabasis rosea (Selys, 1877) see

Ischnura capreolus is lacking from the French Guyana list but does occur there according to Philippe Machet.

Leptagrion siqueirai does not occur in eastern Venezuela (pers. comm. Jürg DeMarmels) and is not mentioned for the French Guyana list. Status to be checked. 

Lestes mediorufus Calvert, 1909 is a synonym of Lestes minutus Selys, 1862 see

Mesoleptobasis incus on the Venezuelan list, Dennis Paulson (1995) lists it as M. inca

Mesoleptobasis cyanolineata is also known from Guyana (Wasscher, 1998). The species was described as Metaleptobasis cyanolineata.

Metaleptobasis sp. aff. mauritia Williamson, 1915 is listed from French Guyana see

Mesoleptobasis sp. aff. cantralli Santos, 1961 is listed from French Guyana see

Megapodagrion megalopus is added to the list by Dennis Paulson (2009) for Guyana and deleted from the Suriname list.

Protoneura ailsa is an species from the Lesser antilles, but was mentioned by Machet (1994) for French Guiana.

Neoneura bilinearis Selys, 1860. Belle (2002) has some doubts if the Suriname species is the same as the species described by Selys from Brasil.

Telagrion inversum Selys, 1876 is now  Leptobasis inversa (Selys, 1876) see

Telebasis sanguinalis has been mentioned for both Suriname en French Guiana. Garrison writes T. sanguinalis north of the Amazone is all T. simulata.
